About us

North Shore Dance Centre (NSDC) has something for everyone whether it’s Jazz, Salsa, Dancesport – Ballroom, Latin, New Vogue, Classical Sequence, Lyrical, Wedding Dances or Social Dancing.

Classes are taught in one of three exceptional purposely built studios where our highly qualified staff teach classes in a popular, fun learning environment for you to get the most out of you, or your children’s dancing.

Each year our dancers receive the highest honours in dance examinations and for those that are involved in competition, our ratio of NZ Champions is outstanding. Whether you want a good grounding in dance for your children or yourself, or you aim to reach for the stars, North Shore Dance Centre in Association with Gotta Dance, can get you there.

Our studio directors

Angela and Kingsley Gainsford are former New Zealand Dancesport Champions in Ballroom, Latin American, New Vogue and Classical Sequence Dancing. Trained in New Zealand and England, Angela and Kingsley have danced and competed throughout Europe representing New Zealand at seven World Championships where their world ranking placed them in the top seventeen. Over a three year period they were Guest Entertainers and Dance Teachers for P&O Princess Cruises America whilst managing a busy schedule to also teach and perform in Canada and America. Together they are directors of North Shore Dance Centre and Gotta Dance Studio.

Studio history

In 1994 Angela and Kinsley Gainsford returned to New Zealand after dancing and training in Europe and North America for five years and established Gotta Dance Studio. Gotta Dance was located in Northcote and continued to grow. In 2000 the studio moved to a larger studio in Glenfield and in 2008, Gotta Dance Studio bought and moved into its current purpose built studios under the banner of the North Shore Dance Centre.
